Ways to find a job. Jobs by backstairs influence.

In Russia most jobs (basically decent) can be never found on the so-called "open market". There are several reasons for that. For example the reason may be like this. Nearly the whole Russian economics (especially that part that actively works and not passive) is to some extent in the "shadow", i.e. it has many illegal aspects in its activity.

Ways to find a job. Jobs by backstairs influence.

In such situation an employer would not like to have deal with anybody and everybody whom he does not know and, hence, cannot trust.

He would prefer a person who has a letter of introduction or orally recommended to him by his friends or relatives. In other words, this person must not be a stranger hired with the help of an ad, as in this case he will not give away.

There is another aspect. Under conditions of unemployment and low-paid earnings any advertisement about a vacancy makes a great informational boom, and only a large company with highly-qualified working personnel department can cope with this situation. Normally it happens like this. As soon as you have advertised in a newspaper that you need a corrector right away a lot of calls begin to come from typists, editors, translators from the Urdu language and simply town madmen. The stream of persons interested in this job maybe so great that you simply do not know what to do in this situation. Therefore, it is much easier for you to ask your friends or some colleagues to find a proper candidate for you.

We have another difficulty as well. We do not have a stable society in which everything (including professions) is quite clear, and in which it is quite evident who does this or that work and how this professions or jobs are called. In Russia everything is in a mess. That is why an employer sometimes needs somebody with the most exotic combination of habits of work and skills. This is especially true in small ventures where each employee must be able to do everything. In such cases employers do not resort to the job placement agencies services first of all because they can not word their idea. Instead of this they simply call a friend and say something like this: "Well, you see, I need a smart man into my office. Could you help me to find someone?" And, as a rule, the friend suggests such a person.

In Russia there is another great problem bearing on confirmation of qualification. For example an applicant has come. He has got a University of Western Brunswick Diploma. But, most likely, neither employer nor his assistants know what this university is? It would be much easier for them if he has come from some Uncle Michael. This way is more popular and trustworthy. And it is better not to say a word about what is written in the work-book of such employee. In Russia Workbooks are sold everywhere and you can buy one and write what you want.

As for the placement agencies (though they themselves say the contrary), they are interested in searching unique highly-paid (about $10,000-$30,000 a month) specialists or have deal with "whole-sale" orders (for example, they can find 35,000 couriers with the salary of one thousand rubles). As for all other orders they deal with them rather formally. As a result, employers prefer not to apply to them but try to find themselves or ask their friends to help them.

It does not mean that you can't find a job at the open market. You can. Especially you are welcome to be some kind of spreader, to sell a Herbalife, for example.
