People say that children are flowers of our life. How many them in Russia now? There are about 18 % of kids under 15 years old, i.e. about 26 million. Russians grows old. The official information on the population census of 2002.

Hordes of children beg in cities, towns and villages in Russia. The stories of those homeless children as of a people's disaster after the civil war in the 20s of our century have been a required part of the lessons of history in the former USSR. Now it does not seam this phenomenon belongs only to the past. Today there are hundreds of thousands of homeless children in big Russian cities who are juvenile prostitutes, beggars, car cleaners and market girls, and nobody pay attention to them.

Whether children are necessary for Russia?
I'll tell you a story here that happened in one of the Russia maternity hospitals. It was the eve of some holidays, which are numerous in Russia. A woman was brought to the delivery room with a diagnosis of premature birth.

The next story was in my hometown. Such stories are numerous in Russia, but not all of them end so happily as this one.
It was like this. A young woman came to a gynecologist with bleeding. Having examined her, the doctor came to the conclusion that the woman had recently given birth to a child, but she refused to acknowledge it. Suspecting something wrong the doctor called the militia to inform them of the situation.

1. I served in the Army. My wife and my son (2 years old) were waiting for me at home. I sent them my photo in a soldier's uniform and it was posted on the table reminding them of me. Once my wife went shopping with the child, and they saw a group of soldiers.
